Weeks 12-13: Moving Pictures

Introductory concepts

  • Watch the 4 videos in this YouTube playlist.
  • Analyze briefly the video on Max Fischer (from Wes Anderson’s Rushmore) and write a 2 paragraph analysis of that clip. How is Wes Anderson using montage and mise-en-scene to say something about this character? What is he saying, cinematically?
  • Post this by Friday, April 17. Respond to a classmate’s post by Monday, April 20.

V for Vendetta

  • Watch V for Vendetta (2005) film adaptation (available for cheap online rental)
  • Analyze one scene from the film, using still shots and/or video clips (provide link and/or time in the film) that struck you, having read the graphic novel. The scene could be a faithful recreation, departure, or simply a moment that came across differently as a film, rather than a comic.
  • Post this by Monday, April 20. Respond to a classmate’s post by Wednesday, April 22.
