Assignment: Joining the Network

The goal of this assignment is to explore ways in which you connect and engage with the field. Here are the activities related to this assignment.

  • Create a Twitter account
  • Follow as many scholars, organizations, and publishers in your field as possible to develop your network
  • Connect your Twitter account to a digital space that serves as the home to your online identity: online portfolio, website, blog, ORCID, Google Scholar page, etc. (example)
  • If you don’t have an online space, create it.
  • Develop a Curriculum Vitae (example) and include it in your online space.
  • Prepare to present this in our November 18 class.

Assignment

Final Assignment: Presenting Your Research

  • Identify a suitable conference to present or publish the paper you have developed.
  • Write a proposal for that CFP, to be posted in Google Classroom.
  • Prepare a 10-minute presentation of your paper.
  • This will be presented in our Final Exam session on December 2, 2021 at 5:00pm in Sanford 104.

Professor Leonardo Flores is Chair of the English Department at Appalachian State University. He taught at the English Department at University of Puerto Rico: Mayagüez Campus from 1994 to 2019. He is President of the Electronic Literature Organization. He was the 2012-2013 Fulbright Scholar in Digital Culture at the University of Bergen in Norway. His research areas are electronic literature and its preservation via criticism, documentation, and digital archives. He is the creator of a scholarly blogging project titled I ♥ E-Poetry, co-editor of the Electronic Literature Collection, Volume 3, and has a Spanish language e-lit column in 80 Grados.
